Go Natural

by Maureen St. Germain

We all have tips and tricks that make us feel good inside and out.  As the holiday season approaches we thought it would be fun to share some of our favorites to keep you feeling good inside and out!

Bridget’s Hair Growing Treatment

One negative side effect to being so active is constantly pulling your hair back into ponytails and buns.  Bridget was noticing her hair was breaking and even a slight bald spot was starting where her hair was resting on top of her head in a bun.  YIKES!  After some research, she found a great recipe for boosting hair growth!  Try it for yourself to make your locks luscious!!

2 T Coconut Oil

1 T Castor Oil

-combine the two oils; use heat to liquefy

10 drops Rosemary oil

10 drops Lavender oil

10 drops Peppermint oil

10 drops Melaleuca (tea tree) oil

5 drops Orange or Lemon oil (optional-for smell)

Mix together

Put your Hair Growing Mask on your roots and scalp.  Massage for 5 minutes.  Wrap hair in a bun and sleep with the mask on (or keep it on for a few hours).  When ready to cleanse hair, but shampoo on dry hair and massage it into scalp and roots.  Leave it on for 5 minutes.  Then rinse.  Hair may be a little oily Day 1 but it is worth it!

Maureen’s Oil Face Wash

Growing up, I wanted my face so clean. I loved the feeling of the astringent cleansers that left my skin feeling dry.  It made me think that I had striped away the oils and therefore helped to prevent breakouts.  Now I understand it was doing more damage!  We need to balance our skin’s pH not use harsh products which will offset our skin’s pH.

The recipe is simple for combination skin combine 2 parts Castor Oil and 1 part Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).  The dryer your skin, the more EVOO should be added to the ratio.  I mix mine in a mason jar.

To cleanse, dip your fingertips into the oil and gently rub on dry skin.  If you have make up on-EVEN BETTER-this is a natural make up remover and you will see your mascara slide right of your lashes as you massage them…although my son did tell me I looked scary!  Massage the oil into your skin for about 1 minute. Then take a washcloth and run it under HOT water and wring it out.  Place the damp washcloth on your face, it will steam your face, open pores, allowing the dirt to come out and the moisture from the oils to seep in.  Rinse the washcloth a few times and reapply to your face.  Then you can finish by gently wiping any excess oil from your skin with the damp washcloth.  Your skin will feel soft and supple.

Audra’s Natural Air Fresheners

Audra’s loved coming home to a fresh smelling home but was always disappointed in how fake the store bought air fresheners actually smelled so took to the internet to research natural air fresheners and she has never looked back!

Items/ Ingredients needed

Mason Jar

Cheesecloth

Baking soda

Favorite essential oil-some great ones for the home are lemon, wild orange, lavender, doTERRA’s OnGuard would be great over the Fall and Winter and work double duty to purify the air as well as energize and uplift your mood!

Fill a small mason jar about ½ way with baking soda, add at least 5 (more if you prefer a strong scent) to the mason jar.  Place the cover on and shake the jar.  Keep the lid on overnight to allow the oils to penetrate the baking soda.  In the morning switch out the metal disc with a few layers of cheese cloth(you can also use paper with a few holes punched in it) and replace the metal collar on the jar.  Place around your house wherever needed…and inhale…Ahhhh….

This is a fun one!  Great creative, mix oils to make your custom scent!
