MIND (RE)SET

Spring is a time for new beginnings and new growth. What not take the opportunity this Spring to work on a positive mindset? Your mind is the most powerful tool you own so start using to your advantage!

Have you ever noticed those days when things aren’t going your way and you feel down so you start repeating a few unkind remarks about yourself over and over in your head?

Does repeating those negative comments ever help improve your mood or outlook? If you are anything like me, the answer is no. It just makes you feel worse about yourself.

What if every time you were about to say something mean to yourself, you stopped yourself and instead made a positive comment. I think you would be truly amazed about how quickly your mood will change. Any issue you are having is never going to be made better by cutting yourself down with negative thoughts. In fact, there is research to prove it!

Dr. Massru Emoto completed an interesting study of water crystals to show how the influence of our thoughts, words and feelings on molecules of water can positively impact our personal wellness. His book, The Hidden Message in Water chronicles his experiment. As the book review states, “He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health.”

Don’t take my word for it, check out this interesting video: Water, Consciousness & Intent: Dr. Massru Emoto

As you can see for yourself, the negative comments took their toll on water crystals so how do your negative comments affect your well-being? Doesn’t this make you want to change your negative thoughts?

If positive thoughts can change our mood then let’s use these positive thoughts to help shape the rest of ourselves, including our bodies. If you walk into class and look in the mirror and say to yourself, ugh, I hate my arms, why am I here, they will never change…guess what, they NEVER will! Why not try saying to yourself, “I am proud of myself because I am here and I am going to work as hard as I can on my arms and they are getting better each day. I’ll be wearing that sleeveless dress in no time.” These positive words will help to build your mind-body connection allowing you work more efficiently and effectively in class so you WILL see progress in your form, strength and physique more quickly. Use your most powerful tool to shape your attitude AND your body.

You are amazing and you should tell yourself that everyday. With a positive, mindful outlook, we can change whatever we choose to!
